About Me

Hi! I’m Alisha.

I’m a typical soccer mom.

(Okay, so my kids don’t actually play soccer. I’m using the term pretty loosely.)

To me the phrase “soccer mom” is a shorter way of saying “an average, typical, suburban mom that drives a minivan, spends a lot of time shuffling her kids around and just tries hard to be a good mom.” I want you to realize that I am super ordinary.

I live in a typical Midwestern suburb. I’m not rich, famous or fancy. I don’t have military or law enforcement training. Prior to 2010 I had never shot a gun before. I wasn’t sure if I wanted to get a concealed carry license.

After I made the decision that concealed carry was something I wanted to do, I struggled figuring out how to make it work for me. I want to share my experiences with you to help make your journey easier.

I’m really down to earth and practical but also a big over-thinker. I’ve put a lot of thought into what works for me. You will find my tips and suggestions useful and practical.

I want to be the resource I wish I had had when I was a complete gun newbie navigating the male dominated gun world. It would have saved me time, money and frustration if I would have had an “ordinary” woman explain to me what works for her and why.

I don’t look like a gun girl.

Most people that pass me in public would never expect that I am carrying a concealed handgun.

I’m an NRA and USCCA Instructor.

After adopting a concealed carry lifestyle, I eventually decided to become an Instructor so I could help other women

Shortly after my husband and I became concealed carriers in 2010, he started a firearms training company called Armed2Defend. We have trained more than 19,000 concealed carriers in the Columbus, Ohio area. Providing high quality training has become a passion for us! I also lead a monthly women’s shooting group called Rosie Pistol.

I remember how intimidating the gun world felt when I was a complete newbie. I love being able to welcome women into that world.

The fact that I wasn’t always a gun girl is what makes me able to relate to other women who are new to guns and concealed carry.

I understand their struggles because they were also my struggles.

If you want to conceal carry, I want to help you.

If you want to conceal carry, I want to help you.

Filling The Gap

The number of women becoming interested in concealed carry is growing rapidly! I love that! It is awesome that more and more women are equipping themselves with tools to protect themselves and their loved ones.

What makes me sad is knowing that very few women actually carry regularly after getting their license. This is what I feel called to help with!

There are usually clear steps on what a person has to do to get the license in their state. Most people are comfortable following laid out instructions. After you get the license, there aren’t clear steps on how to actually fit concealed carry into your normal day to day.

There is a gap. I want to fill that gap. I want to equip you with practical, real advice that will give you the confidence you need to effectively conceal carry. I want you to have a fighting chance if you find yourself in a life threatening situation.

If you DON’T WANT to carry a gun, then I don’t want you to either! People who carry a gun they aren’t comfortable with are more of a danger to themselves than anything else.

If you WANT to conceal carry but you are not actually doing it because something is holding you back, I want to help you!

I’m so glad you found my site!

Ten years ago I was really intimidated by guns.

If I can do this, you can do this too my friend!

Want to know all the details on how I ended up here?

I share the details of my personal journey to encourage you on your own journey.

Pew Pew Mom Started with a Dream!

Figuratively I have had a dream to help other women with firearms for a while. That was my motivation to became an instructor in 2013.

In March 2019 I had a literal dream. In the dream I had a website that was helping tons of women gain the confidence they needed as concealed carriers.

In the dream the site was called Pew Pew Putie. (Putie pronounced like Cutie with a P sound.) My subconscious is kind of clever I guess. The dream played over and over in my head for the next couple of months. Finally on June 27, 2019 I decided that I had to make it happen.

You are what makes the dream worth worth pursuing! Thank you for being here!
